“CHOOSE INSPIRATION OVER MOTIVATION”

Danielle LaPorte

I love this quote from Danielle LaPorte because I use it as a reminder for my work and my lift. Motivation sometimes sounds and feels as though you need a lot of energy to get something done or to create something awesome. Inspiration, however, feels to me as though it provides the energy for what you are creating or for what you are leaning into. What inspires you on a daily basis or your current project / task?

I want to share 4 simple things that inspire my me, my work and my life on a daily basis. I sometimes feel the need to stop, find my grounding and be still to absorb the goodness of inspiration that is all around me

MY FOUR TIPS ON WHAT IS INSPIRING ME AND MY WORK RIGHT NOW…

  1. Forms, functions, tones textures and behaviours in our environment. Nature has worked it all out for us. Everything that is in nature already works, it is already there for us to tap into and receive great messages. Currently, we are experiencing a changeable Autumn season. Cold snaps with gusts of wind that send chills down our spine, on the flip side we then experience warm afternoons with low-level sunlight filtering through the browning leaves on trees. Autumn leaves fall on the floor are a beautiful inspiration of texture, colour and spatial arrangements. If we can just stop for long enough to watch and observe these things around us we can gain so much from our surroundings. We can then start to take more notice of our environment and this is where I take much inspiration, just watching and observing.
  2. Willingness to learn and endless possibility. I think that if we remain open to learning and receiving new information then we can naturally be inspired by everything around us. Once we start to receive more we can then start to give more and an awesome cycle of giving and receiving starts to EVOLVE and so do we. I never feel like I know enough about anything or that I’m finished because there’s always room for more information, more experiences, more boundaries and more creations. Endless possibilities in everything we do so I just have a go and keep learning from my mistakes. I feel like mistakes are the only way we can keep moving forward
  3. People watching is always inspiring. Even watching our own tribes at home and how they operate. Everyone is different, there’s no right or wrong, good or bad but it’s about tapping in and understanding what people or our clients really want and understand how they want to feel. Buckets of money can be spent on a new house or a new lounge suite that looks great but if it’s not going to make us feel good and allow us to function at our best then what is the point? Sit back, watch and observe and then process that into design and I think we can achieve great things.
  4. Space and stillness. Not space in a physical sense although that helps too! More in a conscious Usually I would say I am a go getter. I enjoy being busy and achieving a lot out of my day or my work. I pump things out when I have a full day and work on motivation which can feel good but this isn’t my ideal for a daily routine. I notice that when I slow right down and be still is when I feel the space to get the real creative energy bubbling. Once I am still and chilled I can empty the crowded space in my head and let the spaciousness in. It is now that I can tap back into creative source and I receive organization, order, clarification and inspiration and this is when I can work at my peak. Have a go at this and see what happens. Doesn’t matter where work just stop and be still at times and see what comes up for you and remember to breathe.

These are some beautiful images from my Pinterest board that I used to get inspired to create my branding and logo for JACQ Interiors. I am sharing because it’s a beautiful collection of random images that express nature, texture, shapes, forms and colour in an inspiring way

What does your Pinterest Inspiration board look like and what do you use for your inspiration??
